English Transcript: Manual vs. 3D measurement with HottScan
In this video, we want to show you how you can complete your measurements quickly and easily, even in complex spaces. We've compared the traditional manual measurement method with the future-oriented measurement solution HottScan HS-1 room scanner.
First, we measured our example room manually using common tools such as a tape measure, laser distance meter, and protractor, and documented the situation on-site with a tablet.
Before we can start taking data on-site with this method, we first need to create a floor plan sketch and, if we have a complex room like our example, possibly also wall elevations.
Afterward, we can finally start our actual work and begin taking data by trying to remember all the measurements, recording them accurately, and noting them without any typos so that we can read each measurement later in the office and know which measurement corresponds to which edge in the room.
Finally, we now need to take a few control measurements to account for the tolerances of the classic point-to-point measurement and document everything with numerous individual images that may help us clarify any ambiguities in the sketch back at the office.
Second, we scanned the same room using the HottScan HS-1 room scanner.
The scanner is set up on-site in a few simple steps and is ready for operation in just a few seconds.
The measurement process begins simply and conveniently with a fully automatic scan that captures the entire room geometry in 3 minutes and simultaneously documents it with a 360° photo panorama.
After scanning, you have the option to check the scan on-site, place notes directly in the scan, or individually increase the model depth with additional manual measurement points.
Back in the office after the measurement, we can now evaluate the results of the data acquisition.
In comparison, 3D measurement with the HottScan HS-1 offers clear advantages over the conventional manual method. Instead of painstakingly taking each measurement or angle individually by hand, the fully automatic scan of the HottScan HS-1 precisely and flawlessly captures the room geometry.
At the same time, it fully documents the room using a 360° photo panorama, allowing you to check the scan directly on-site via remote control. This completely eliminates the time-consuming manual image documentation with individual pictures.
In the office, the data from the HottScan HS-1 is transferred directly to the HottScan Modeller software and processed in 3D space. Here, all measurements can also be conveniently checked retrospectively using the 360° photo panorama.
Unlike the manual method – where measurements are often missing or, due to accumulated inaccuracies, the final result is not exactly accurate – you are always on the safe side with the HottScan HS-1.
